Birthday blues

Man with his familyTo my horror, I checked the date and realized that in a week, I'll be turning a year older. Hell, most of you know how old I am so it doesn't really matter. Suffice to say, I'm not the big 3-0 yet... but so amazingly close, I find it impossible to believe. Somehow or rather I don't find myself old enough - or mature enough to be even that close to 30. In my head, I'm still practically a kid wet behind the ears.

Back when I was a kid, I had simple dreams. No trips to Mars for me. No king of the world. No castles in the air. I didn't need to conquer the world. I didn't need to be at the top of my career. I didn't need to make a million bucks. Never one to aim for that pie in the sky, I just imagined the whole package of a great home, a wonderful wife and kids, a satisfying career. Simple, really!

Halfway there already though.... well, I do have a great home. Would take ages for me to finish the mortgage but I'm having so much fun decorating that I don't actually mind! I do have an okay job - it still pays measly peanuts ( which explains the above ) and expects us to do an elephantine amount of work but with a gun to my head, I will admit to liking it on the odd days that I'm not whining. Since I'm not straight, obviously the wife bit of the package has been revamped to that of a brawny, testosteroney hunk of a husband. Still working on that bit though.

On that note, I have a lunch with my ISO on Saturday. He won't be around next week so he's giving me my birthday gift early ( since he knows I'm a whore for free stuff ). Have I mentioned that I'm a sucker for gifts? :)

Oh worry not the big 3-0 is the prime time for attracting guys who are into stable and matured men.

I'm also inching towards that foul dual digit too, but that's not why I'm saying this ok?

Really.

Getting closer to 3-0 makes you even more interesting and attractive. :oP

Plus you have your own home and a good job you (kind of) enjoy. You're doing pretty well so far, Paul. :o)

Oh, thanks very much. this post was brilliantly painful for the guy who just turned 30 last month. I could slash my wrist right now. :-P

Well, I am sure it's even scary to be 30 but once you become that (which will definitely happen in a few years?), it's not that bad.

ken, thanks.. I am hoping that my stability and maturity would attract guys :) Sounds like trust fund but thanks.

rafe! A party!

ru, next year is the big 30 and it's terrifying. I was supposed to be married by now!

shigeki, don't slash your wrists yet. You have a tiny waist that makes up for that! :)

Oh oh oh... just in case I somehow miss it, "Happy Birthday!". A little early, but what the heck :)

Y'know, I'm turning 30 and I still have simple dreams. Well, except about the one with the castle in the sky la. Or the one where I gain some amazing mutant ability. Or...

Happy birthday, brotha!
As a man who spent most of his twenties in the last century, I can say that life goes on. Gets better even.
You might be one of those guys that just gets hotter. Yum. Like the guy in the picture. You know he will. A little grey later (much later! relax). OK, now I'm a little cranked up.

Paul

My first post to you and I can wish you a Happy Birthday! You sound like a charming, suave, and with a twinge of nuerosis (which is great in my book - after all we have our own idiosyncracis)knight in shining armor, well more a knight with lots of books (no pun intended ;-) ). Thirty is not bad, in just a month I start on the downward slope of thirties and looking forward to everyday, hoping to slip into the path of a smart, attractive hunk of a man!
Again, Happy Birthday (early)!

Paul, seems to me like you have quite a few people who comment on this blog who would be willing to marry you already. You could try making a shortlist, then buy yourself a plane ticket and go hunt them down. :o)

Or just invite Barry round to help you in the garden, and then offer him a shower afterward ... ;o)

God...29 seems like decades ago...wait...IT WAS!!! I was making babies and married then...things sure have changed. Honey you still hae plenty of time to find a husband. If I was 29 again I would still be sowing LOTS AND LOTS more oats...so to speak! ;)

From someone who just let go of 30 and partnered up with 31, you need not worry about it. In fact you'll find that your late 20's and early 30's will be much more enjoyable than your early 20's. Maybe when we get to that point in our lives, nearly everything becomes a grain of salt, unless we CRAVE drama.

PARTY PARTY PARTY!
Oh alright, I shan't rub my age in your face.....
But party party party!!!!
What are you gonna do?
Streak the hospital ER? Have your wicked way on unsuspecting Big Bicep Barry? Get a tattoo that you'll regret in a decade's time?
SPILL!

Happy Birthday to you :)

I suppose your ISO will take you out for dinner? :) Will he offer himself for the night as a birthday present as well? :P

thx for the bday wishes, wee shiong.

michael, you're right. Hoping to get that much hotter - since I wasn't all that hot to begin with. :)

well, ahmad, no firm plans on the bday yet but perhaps a dinner and some drinks with my colleagues.

cris, you've had some experience.. tell me how you went through all that :) Does alcohol help?

thanks, luvnromance, yeah, I hope I'm charming... not that suave but definitely have a twinge or neuroses.

ru, my garden has been fully tiled and I'm waiting to erect a Balinese pergola. Maybe Barry might help :)

thanks, rebel and kit. It's in a week!

Sowing wild oats, Scotty? Trying to but I need to find a hot gardener first!

Thanks for dropping by, Picasso.

ctg, it's not an on-call day, it's a relatively not busy day, I hope... so I have my fingers crossed! It should be a great day.

Will, you bad boy. You need to be spanked :)

Brian., I realize that I don't crave drama. I actually like boring days in front of the tv munching on chips. Have enough drama at work already.

Start singing, lost.

James, no way am I streaking the ER :) The wicked way with Barry sounds great - maybe I'll get him to give me that for a present. Already had a semi-perm tattoo on my butt some time back. Even had one on my arm. Too sissy to get on permanent one.. too damn painful!

pete, my iso will be working on the weekdays but he has promised dinner for the weekend.
