Midnight movies

It's official. I am an old man.

Certainly not complaining about the age this time since I'm getting used to the fact that I am approaching 30 on a rollicking non-stop roller coaster... much too fast to get my freaking brakes on so what the heck. I'll get there being the great guy that I am ( yeah, I'm feeling full of conceit today :) ). Still I remember when I was younger and able to stay up till all hours without feeling the pinch.

Two intriguing movies are opening tonight at some ungodly hour tonight... Perhaps Love and the Chronicles of Narnia. My first thought when I read the papers was who the heck could possibly attend the screening at midnight apart from hapless street hookers and zealous movie zombies ( and Clay! )?

And then I received the oddest call this evening from Barry who actually wants to go! The man works six days a week from 8 in the morning till almost 8 in the evening and he's still up for a movie at midnight?! Where does he get the energy? What the hell are they feeding the boy/man? Not only is Big Bicep Barry older but he's obviously filled with far more stamina than me - must be all that obsessive weightlifting and freakin' disgusting veggie juice that he guzzles occasionally - since he's still raring to go at midnight! The musclebound freak! :)

It's freaking bedtime!Despite the fact that I'm dying to watch both movies ( did you guys know that I'm obsessed with the movies? ), I'm a practical kinda guy though so I said no. Not only do I have work tomorrow, I don't need a recurring sleep debt to knock me out at work - especially when I already have leaking anaesthetic gases to do the job for me.

I guess I am more than a little morbidly obsessed with my sleep - or the sheer lack of it. Since I've always had a problem with sleep ( the fucking insomnia, dammit! ), I guard my precious REM and non-REM hours jealously and jump straight into bed almost religiously at the same hour on a daily basis. Guess Barry wouldn't know that. :)

Still. Yum. Did I mention his stamina?

If you are an old man, what does it make me? I know people around you say something comforting but it's true it's scary. Once you passed it, that ain't bad at all. I promise. :-)

I don't drink veggie juice and I am not freaking muscled but I can stay up late. :-) But getting decent sleep is the best way to stay young. :-) Happy being older.

I should definitely have your discipline and thinking when it comes to catching up with sleep. But I do have your love for movies (and TV and porn, ooops!). This equals to sleeping around 2 am, after finishing at least 2 episodes of Lost on DVD (or downloaded) or a fresh stash of bought or downloaded porn. And look where it got me... Puffy eyes! Ugh! I should keep in mind Shigeki's words... "decent sleep is the best way to stay young." :-)

I too have a problem with sleep... Sometimes it came quite easy but more often it does not...

And sometimes, bottle green tea and coffe works as mild sedative on me... strange eh??

As for the Narnia movie... you dawg :pp We BKKian have to wait till Dec. 29 for our turn!!

BTW, will ya be playing with BBB's hands (or something more center wise) while watching the midnight show? *wink* *wink*

I think it's really sweet that BBB wants to take you to the movies. But I sympathise about the sleep deprivation, especially when you have to work in theatre the following day.

Get Barry to take you at the weekend, and make the most of his stamina then. :oP

I'm watching Perhaps Love today! This is SO exciting! Jacky Cheung is a God! And he's mine! (Don't think most of you would want him though... Takeshi is yours, I want Jacky)

you choose sleep over the opportunity of making out in a dark cinema with BBB?! What a lost opportunity!

On the other hands, I know what you mean by guarding the REM hours as mine goes bonkers as well if I don't maintain a regular sleeping hours.

shigeki, you're a hip sexy japanese guy! Glad you don't drink veggie juice.

lost, we all love the juice.

I don't have that much discipline either, Mark. I want my sleep desperately but I get online and watch tv and.. that's all goodbye sleep.

Unfortunately no exception for anyone, not even for BBB. I need my sleep and I have to work. Till the day my sugar daddy sweeps me away to a place where I don't have to work... I gotta wake up early.

insomnia = sonata!? :)

No midnight shows for me, pete. and I'm not surprised that Bangkok would show it later since they have to do the translation after all.

c.jordan, I don't sound old but I have creaking joints, believe me :)

Ru, poor Barry works even on Saturdays so he finishes pretty late even then. And I work on the occasional weekend too!

amopodex, I do think I'm interesting. When are the cute guys gonna notice that too!

Well, leggy, JAcky Cheung sang beautifully!

It was a lost opportunity but I made up for the movie hours today, Asmadi :)
